I'd say tripadvisor is a good place to start

I use it for my research and the reviews are honest and you can find some good hotel deals and interesting locations / venues to visit I always used to use viator but since tripadvisor acquired them there are way too many options And when the pandemic hit i had 4 upcoming tours that they refunded me for immediately no questions asked. The tripadvisor best list if filled with chinese properties and the worst list is filled with american properties

Google has spots like train/bus stations I usually check their reviews for safety/security concerns. Viator is legit but often prices up tours you could directly buy yourself
